So I haven't posted in a while. In quite a while. That's cool though. Things are going good, so I'm sure you all (does anyone read this?) are glad to hear that. Emily and I had our first Valentines Day as well as our 10 month anniversary. I have a good job now. That also makes me happy.
Oooh, and I played in a Groove show last week. And I'm running a practice today. It's good to still be involved in the group. Oh and the practice we're running is for the new song I wrote. It's pretty sweet. Pretty darn.
Things are good That's al I got.
Oh and I love my Wii. It's cool. |

So I've been dating Emily now for four months. I'm not fishing for congratulations or anything, but I do think it's worth noting. At this point, this is the longest relationship I've been in, and it doesn't seem like it's going to be ending any time soon (and I sure as heck hope it doesn't). Anyway, I just thought it was something special. Oh, and she'll be back in Michigan soon, so I'm very happy. :) |

I just got back from New York yesterday. I was there for a whole week visiting Emily. It was pretty incredible, and very much needed as I hadn't seen her since Memorial Day. Now, of course, I have to deal with not seeing her until September, but at least then she'll be in Michigan for a long time. Hooray school! My experiences in New York ranged from incredible to incredibly expensive, but I had a great time. We went to Times Square (which we both hated because tourists are annoying as sin) and rode the ferris wheel in the Toys 'R Us. This was a fun experience, but we sat across from a psychotic little girl who had her stuffed puppies try to kill each other. (One was continually holding the other out of the ferris wheel car because it was being a 'puppy and not a dog.') On Friday we saw Clerks II which was pretty friggin hilarious. If you liked the first one, I'd recommend the second. If you haven't seen the original, then rent it and watch it. THEN see the second one. We saw two shows on Broadway: Wedding Singer and Avenue Q. Wedding Singer was decent, but not really worth the price of a ticket. The sets were fantastic but nothing else was really memorable. Avenue Q, however, was spectacular. For those of you that don't know, Avenue Q is the Tony Award winning musical (it beat Wicked in 04 for Best Musical) about a demented Sesame Street. It actually has muppets! However, the show is extremely NOT family friendly, featuring full frontal puppet nudity (and a fairly graphic sex scene), a character named Lucy The Slut, and songs like "It Sucks To Be Me", "Everyone's a Little Bit Racist", and "The Internet is For Porn." I highly recommend seeing the show, and if you don't plan on doing that, at least get the soundtrack. I bought the soundtrack as soon as I got home. It's incredible. Emily and I also went to Coney Island and the aquarium with one of her friends from day camp. It was cool because he worked at the aquarium, so not only did we get in for free but he gave us a pretty extensive tour. We didn't ride anything at Coney Island but had Nathan's Original hot dogs and saw a freak show, which was just weird enough to be fun. Kinda makes me regret not being able to see shows like that when people really considered all the acts to be amazing. Nowadays everyone is too cynical to enjoy a good old fashioned freak show. Other than that, the only other touristy thing I remember doing is walking on the Brooklyn Bridge at sunset. This was awesome and really romantic and I got a really sweet picture of the bridge on my phone. We tried to go to Central Park but ran out of time before Avenue Q so we had to cut our dinner short and run (or subway) downtown to make it to the theater. Of note was our server at the Indian restaurant who provided amazingly efficient and good service, as well as looking just like Tiger Woods. The only real downsides of the trip were when Emily got sick :( and when I had to go home. I really can't wait to see her again... September seems so far away. |

So I guess a lot has happened since I last posted... I visited Emily, met the family and friends, had a great time in DC. Then she visited here for Memorial Day, met the family and friends, and had a... time.. in Almont. Sorry, but Almont is not as exciting as DC, as much as I love the town. Anywho, I'm visiting her on the 20th in NYC, and I'll be there for a whole week and I'm extremely excited. I miss her horribly, though I'm sure no one wants to read about that. Other than that, I've been living up being a college grad, including the thankless task of searching for a... *shudder* career. I'm actually fairly far along in the process of what is essentially my dream job. I won't say any more lest I jinx it, suffice to say that I would give anything for this job... It's exactly the kind of job I dreamt about while at school. Wish me luck.
Oh, and Italy plays Germany on the 4th. Viva Italia! |

So I'm leaving to go visit Emily in 3 days (!!!) This is both exciting and terrifying. For several reasons. One, I have never flown on a plane by myself. It's not the trip that scares me, I've flown a ton of times. But I have to check in for the flight and do other assorted airport stuff on my own. Part of growing up, I suppose. Second, I'm meeting Emily's parents for the first time (and her best friend). I'm not really worried about whether they'll like me, but if the don't it'll be a long, awkward visit. Third comes from the crushing realization that it has been an unbearable two weeks without Emily and after this visit, I don't know how long it will be till I see her again. Most likely it won't be until July. Maybe later.
Beyond that, life has been good. Ann Arbor is breathtaking in the spring and the Pistons have yet to dissappoint. Hopefully the summer will be awesome enough that I don't miss Emily too horribly.

So it's summer... kinda. It's not technically summer yet, but the weather's great and everyone's feeling good. It's a great feeling.
There's a chance I'll be heading to Maryland next weekend. I'm really excited, but I don't want to get too excited yet since it's still not definite. It will be incredible to see Emily again...
Okay, that's really all I have for now. If anything new comes up, I might post it.

Since Allison reads this, and maybe others do as well, I might as well give a real update. I'm bored anyway so this is as good a way to kill that as anything.
Sooo... I guess a lot is new. I mean, I do have a girlfriend now (Go me) and she's pretty incredible. I kept her identity a secret from my roommates just to be annoying. I told them they would meet her at Tom's birthday. However, they all have known Emily for over a year now, so I could have just said "I'm dating Emily." But I wanted to be sneaky. So there.
However, Emily's in Maryland now and will be going to NYC soon for the rest of the summer. What this means is I won't see her much (or at all) for four months. Understandably, this is hard for me to deal with, but I guess that's just a part of life.
Done with school. For now. Grad school looms in the not so distant future. I'm gonna miss it, that's for sure. I'll miss Groove a ton too. Actually.. not being in Groove is going to be really hard. It's really all I know anymore. So the real world is scary, but I need to get a job soon so that I can have enough money to visit Emily. Hopefully several times.
I guess I don't have much else to say. I'm going to help move my sister out of her dorm tomorrow, after her first year of college. Scary how fast she's growing up. I'll probably always picture her as the little girl I grew up with. Okay, that's it for now. Laterz. |

| | "Situation" - Yaz | ] | Had my first exam in naviagation. I expected it to be hard but... wow. Luckily, the lieutenant sent out an e-mail recently explaining that the exam was supposed to be nearly impossible to complete, and that we will be able to make up every point of it. So I'm feeling a little better.
Unfortunately, I'm not feeling as well physically. I'm not sick, just absolutely exhausted, since I was up all night studying for the previously mentioned exam. I should go to bed early tonight, but i really can't since I have groove practice and have to write my spanish journals due tomorrow. Crap.
I reffed my last game of this IM season last night. Now, I don't like to brag about my reffing, but it is known within the system that I am the best waterpolo ref. Only one other ref even comes close. So when I ref a game, the players are really getting the best officiating experience they're going to get. Unfortunately, this late in the playoffs, the losing team will always be upset. I saw a team get dominated, and they blamed me. They even went so far as to ask my supervisor for my name after the game, but I'll get to that in a moment. I called a fair amount of fouls (about 13 major fouls) but the number was definitely skewed in favor of the winning team (11-2) This was not because I was out to get one team or anything. Honestly, I don't care which team wins. The losing team just played a dirty game while the winning team played better and cleaner. Well the losing team couldn't accept this and took every opportunity they had to cuss me out. Usually when this happens, I issue a red card which means the team is automatically out of the playoffs. However, this team lost anyway, so I had no recourse, and they took full advantage of that fact. Anyway, I called the game fairly and to the best of my ability. So the losing team, upset with this, plans on filing a formal complaint. I sure hope they do. A complaint, when upheld, will refund your season's cost (about 100 bucks) but it costs 20 dollars to file the complaint. I hope they file it because there is no chance in Hell that they will win.
On a better note, the other games I reffed last night were much better, without any other teams complaining. Funny... If my reffing is perfect for the teams in the higher skill brackets (including the defending champions), how come first season teams with no prior experience can find so many faults in it? Just something to think about.
After reffing, Ryan and I headed over to the gym and saw a mass of people watching a basketball game. We get there and instantly know it's a big deal because the three refs are the BEST refs in the IM system, bar none. All three of them ref collegiate level basketball and football and ref the national IM competitions in basketball and flag football. So seeing them is indication that something big is happening. We see what appeared to be the end of regulation play, tied at 72. Nope. Third over time. The game ended up going to 5 overtimes and ended with the teams playing 3 on 2 because everyone else had fouled out. And these players were good. Really good. I have no doubts that any of them could play at least Division II college basketball. So an extremely exciting game, with maybe 100 people watching it... then we find out... it's the SEMI-finals. It wasn't even the championship. Sweet.
That's all I got for now. I'm excited because Cookie is having a 70's dirty disco party saturday, and I'm growing my mustache out for that upon request from the hostess herself.
Wow, this entry turned out pretty long. Keep it real. |

Been a long time since I updated. So... here's a quick runthrough of what's happened...
I'm 21 now. I drink more than I probably should. And I love white russians.
My new roommate Eric tried out for and made it into Groove. That's awesome since I now have someone at home to talk shop with
I wrote 3 of the Groove songs we're playing this semester.
Our semester end show last semester was INCREDIBLE. At the historic Michigan Theater and featuring the WALL O' DOOM.
Four Square Club is still awesome. We met two incredible freshmen that now come every week.
I am obsessed with Electric Six. Now one of my favorite bands. Check them out.
We've had two major parties at A5. An 80's themed Halloween party and a Movie Themed Costume party this past weekend. I got way too drunk at both. But my costumes were great each time. For the 80's party, I was Magnum PI and the Night of Cinema I was Peter LeFleur from Dodgeball (and Eric was an awesome White Goodman.) The best costume though, was Tom's Rufio. Absolutely incredible and he made the entire thing himself.
Been playing a lot of IM sports. The Flag Football team didn't do as well as we could've, but the IM waterpolo team is doing really well. We have our third playoff game tonight (3 more wins and we're the champions)
Chris got married. The wedding was great. I brought Julie from Groove, and now all my friends are in love with her. Crazy.
Andy's engaged. Yeah, crazy.
Pete's gay. Not as surprising. Seems he was the only one shocked about it. But he seems happy, and that's all that matters.
Apparantly I can ice skate. I'd never been before but it turns out it's almost exactly like roller blading, which I'm pretty good at. Now I go almost weekly.
I have nowhere to go for Spring Break. In other depressing news, I have nothing to do for Valentine's Day except sit around and cry. Actually, I'll likely watch movies. Just take my mind off the day.
I've learned the immortal truth... Never drink with your parents. When drunk, my parents like to tell stories that, frankly, I don't want to hear. It'd be funny if it happened to someone else though.
Been playing a lot of Halo 2. I love that game.
Groove got a beatboxer. He's absolutely incredible. Too bad he's studying abroad this semester.
Our apartment's still awesome. I love it. And I'm going to be spendig the summer here so I'm glad.
Alright... that's all I got. |

English Genius You scored 92% Beginner, 100% Intermediate, 100% Advanced, and 100% Expert! |
You did so extremely well, even I can't find a word to describe your excellence! You have the uncommon intelligence necessary to understand things that most people don't. You have an extensive vocabulary, and you're not afraid to use it properly! Way to go!
Thank you so much for taking my test. I hope you enjoyed it!
For the complete Answer Key, visit my blog: http://shortredhead78.blogspot.com/. |
|
My test tracked 4 variables How you compared to other people your age and gender:
|
You scored higher than 33% on Beginner |
|
You scored higher than 52% on Intermediate |
|
You scored higher than 81% on Advanced |
|
You scored higher than 95% on Expert |
|
Good to know college hasn't completely destroyed my English abilities. Though, as I'm in linguistics right now, I see the inherent flaws in this test and condemn it as a valid form of testing. |

Okay, real entry time. All moved into A5 and it rocks. A lot. It's not even worth trying to explain, just come visit. Everyone's moved in except for Aaron, who doesn't get here until Labor Day. Which I guess is good for him since it means everything will be done by the time he gets here, but bad for him since he gets less time to enjoy the awesomeness of A5.
I went and saw the Aristocrats. It was showing at the Star Theater at Great Lakes Crossing (an hour and 15 minute drive and one of two theaters it's showing on in the entire state of Michigan) and it was the funniest thing I've ever seen. For those not familiar, The Aristocrats is a documentary about the dirtiest joke ever told and features almost every major comedian you could name. And no matter what you think, or how dirty a joke you think you've heard... This is dirtier. Even if you've heard the joke before, the versions in this movie are so far above and beyond whatever you could imagine. I can't remember the last time I've laughed this hard. Oh, and the movie is extremely extremely obscene. There's a reason that only people 18 and up are allowed in and you really have to be able to laugh at anything. If you get easily offended, you might not want to see it. And like I said, no matter what you expect, you aren't ready for how dirty this film really is. So see it and find out. :) And then ask me for my version, cuz I've been told I tell a good one. |

I was gonna do this a while ago, but moving in made things tricky.
List ten songs that you are currently digging. It does not matter what genre they are from, whether they have words, or even if they are no good, but they must be songs you are really enjoying right now. Post these instructions, the artists, and the ten songs in your blog. Then tag five other people to see what they are listening to.
1. Queen - Killer Queen 2. Kajagoogoo - Too Shy 3. Rick James - Give It To Me Baby 4. Kriss Kross - Jump 5. Charlie and the Chocolate Factory - Augustus Gloop 6. Journey - Don't Stop Believin' 7. Gorillaz - Feel Good Inc. 8. Tom Cochran - Life is a Highway 9. Rush - Tom Sawyer 10. Led Zeppelin - Kashmir
As for tagging... Anyone who reads this. Namely, Allison, Karen, and anyone else who happens upon it. |
